The West Kildonan Judo Club is one of the most competitive and successful judo schools across Canada. The club is run by Mark Berger, 7th degree black belt, bronze medalist at the 1984 Summer Olympic Games, gold medal at the Pan American Games, 5 times Canadian Heavy weight gold medalist, silver medal winner at the World Sambo Championships. He is also the current Judo Manitoba Head Coach, former Judo Canada Coach, Maccabi Canada Judo Head Coach, member of Judo Canada, Judo Manitoba and Sport Manitoba Hall of Fame.

We have trained athletes that became national champions and members of Canada’s national team. Our goal is to provide students with an enjoyable environment where they are challenged both physically and mentally.

Through Judo students develop confidence, useful skills, strength and the best conditioning. Our club is a wonderful after school activity, as well as a great way to relieve stress from a long day at work. We offer two classes, a beginner class (ages 7-12) and an advanced class (ages 13+). These two levels help students develop their skills more easily, while being in a comfortable environment along side their peers.

We offer a great versatility of knowledge and training to our students. With Mark Berger as the head coach, he not only provides the fundamental aspects of the sport but is able to demonstrate techniques that are used at the Olympic level. Along side, junior coaches assist the classes to ensure everyone benefits from the practices.
